Blessed.

Bath Time

You are the trip I did not take
You are the pearls I could not buy
You are my blue Italian lake
You are my piece of foreign sky.

You are my Honolulu moon
You are the book I did not write
You are my heart's unuttered tune
You are a candle in my night.

You are the flower beneath the snow
In my dark sky a bit of blue
Answering disappointment's blow
With "I am happy! I have you!"

Even in the deepest throes of cabin fever,
I am still very much aware of just how lucky I am.

Hudson's first time bowling was lots of fun.
At first he liked rolling the ball by himself,
but he quickly decided that using the metal "guide" was much more exciting.
He loved picking out his ball (it wasn't too heavy for him!),
carrying it to the lane,
and giving it a big PUSH,
down down down
the little silver slide.
Most times he would turn around and walk off before the ball had even
reached the pins...
a strike wasn't that important.
the big push was definitely the best part.

Hudson got a little antsy after the first game.
And Will did, too.
I wonder if it had anything to do with who won?!
;)

It SNOWED, it snowed....
everything is sparkling with diamond light,
get your hat and coat and bundle up real tight!

(It was literally 70 degrees five days ago. Isn't that odd?)

I just want to make you happy.

Hudson
Hudson: "Can you help me eat? You always have to feed babies. Some people say I'm a baby."

Hudson: "Can we paint? But we need paint sauce!"

(As I was running water for my bath, I caught Hudson putting his army men in the tub after I had told him not to do that.)
Hudson: "BUT! I just want to make you happy!"

(While laying in bed talking to me on the night before his first day of Pre-K 3)
Hudson: "Mama? Can you stay with me at school a little while? But, I can talk to the teacher, so that you won't have to worry."

(While Will was reading him a story)
Hudson: "Daddy, can you pause it?"

(I came into my room, and Hudson had four of Will's shoes on his Rudolph stuffed animal's feet and my headband around it's neck.)
Hudson: "Rudolph is going to a wedding!"

(While laying down with me one night trying to fall asleep)
Hudson: "Mama, be still sweetie. It's time to get some rest."

(Hudson and I like to dance to the music in the movie White Christmas. During the song "Sisters", we were dancing around and Hudson stopped and stood in the mirror, and put pennies in his ears.)
Me: "Hudson, no! What are you doing?"
Hudson: "These are my fancies. I need these to dance."

(Hudson and Will were playing in his room when Hudson started pulling the pretend food out of his kitchen and throwing it. Will told him not to do that, but he kept on making a mess. After Will started picking it up, he told Hudson he wasn't in the mood to play, because Hudson wasn't listening. Hudson ran into my room.)
Hudson: "Uggggggh! Daddy is REALLY getting on my nurse!"

(While driving through a parking lot while Will was in a store, Hudson noticed a pet shop.)
Hudson: "Can we go see the dogs and cats?"
Me: "Not tonight, we have to wait on Daddy."
Hudson: "Please?"
Me: "Maybe we can go tomorrow."
(folds his hands) Hudson: "Dear Lord, thank you for this day. Please let me have sweet dreams tonight about doggies and little boys. Amen."

----Sharks & Jets----
On Friday, Will took me to see West Side Story.
We haven't been out on a date night in awhile,
so getting all dressed up and enjoying a night out
was a perfect way to start the weekend.

On Saturday morning,
we went to one of our favorite places for
a yummy birthday brunch,
followed by a walk to the pet store
(Hudson's favorite)
so that he could visit the kitty cats.

----Scenes from an Italian Restaurant----
We had a wonderful italian dinner feast
on Saturday night.
I always enjoy the atmosphere of this little restaurant...
almost as much as I enjoy the food.

----Eat More Cake----
Instead of buying a cake this year,
my mom and I decided to make one.
It was white cake with chocolate filling,
and vanilla buttercream frosting
dyed green at Hudson's request.
Mom added sugar circles,
and I did the fondant balls
and miniature fondant me.
Hudson loved helping me make a wish
and blow out the candles.
The cake was was delicious.

This was a great birthday....
I am certainly thankful for
my family that always makes
my birthday extra special.
