We started our Independence Day at the Cafe Beignet, for a breakfast of, well, what else? Beignets! Eating those powdered sugar confections was the perfect way to fuel up for a fun day at the Audobon Zoo! We decided to forego the thirty minute drive, and started off on the St. Charles Streetcar, which took us on a lovely ride through the Garden District of New Orleans. Then we walked a while and caught a city bus, that dropped us off directly in front of the zoo. We had a wonderful time seeing the animals, especially Louisiana's famously mysterious white alligator! This amazing reptile was only just discovered in 1987 in the Louisiana swamp, and there is no previous known discovery of white alligators in recorded history. But, Eastern mythology holds the white beasts to be symbols of extraordinary good luck.

What a fun day! When we go to New Orleans (I say when because I know we will someday) the zoo will for sure be on our list of places to visit! I love going to zoos and aquariums!

We have been on a small Zoo parade through the south. Memphis just a couple of weeks before New Orleans. Hudson loves Zoos though. This was the perfect way for us to start our 4th of July. I could have sworn that Hudson would have wanted a gator in the gift shop if not a white one. Oh know we had to get a Raccoon. Thats for a different story.

LOVE YOU!!!
