Milky Way Farms


A few facts about Milky Way Farms:

--The founder of the farm was Frank C. Mars,
creator of the candy company Mars, Inc.,
which makes Milky Way, Snickers, and M&M's,
among other confectionary favorites.

--The land for the farm was purchased in 1930.
Mr. Mars acquired a total of 2,805 acres.

--The Manor House was built in 1932,
and is 25,000 square feet. It has 21 bedrooms,
and 16 bathrooms.

--The Dining Room table is the largest privately owned dining table
in America. It seats 40 people.

--There are 30 barns, 70 cottages, and a Mausoleum
on the property.

--The 1940 Kentucy Derby Winner, Gallahadion,
was trained at the Milky Way Farms race track.

oh my goodness!!! I love, love, LOVE, touring homes like this! so magical.

holy moly! seats 40 people. imagine trying to have conversations across the table. or asking someone to pass the peas. that could take awhile. haha.

Great pictures once again Swoop. This house was really neat and was not laid out the way I would have thought it would be. I am just wondering why you did not talk about the fake ghost you keep thanking Hudson was seeing?

You visit the prettiest places! A dining table for 40 people?! How fun would that be to sit down with a table full of family/friends and have a big old dinner there. (:

I love the giraffes on that wallpaper. So pretty.

Wow, I had to catch up on your blog. Many posts, all so precious. I love the pictures. Are you both great at photography? Because you aren't taking the ones of you and Hudson, obviously.
