What a Feeling.

I am a big fan of hair experiments.
I love trying new styles.
Braids and Ponytails and Curls and Twists....love 'em all.
One look at my pinterest, and you can see from the "hair" board that I obviously have a mild obsession.

When I saw a tutorial about how to get big curls from sleeping in tiny buns,
I got really excited.
No curlers?
No heat?
Easy hair-do?
Sign me up.

I scared myself a little when I woke up and I spied the crazy twists in my hair.
But, I was so excited about those bouncy curls.
So I did just as the girl said and combed them out with my fingers.

Hudson looked at me, pointed at my hair, and said:
"Mama, it's tooooo bright!"
Ha. Not sure what that means, but it wasn't a positive response.

Ummmmm....okay. Don't panic.
Just give them a little while.
Surely, some of that curl will relax a bit.
Clearly, I have Flashdance hair.
And I don't think it's going to get any smaller.
Good thing I'm a child of the eighties....
might as well embrace it.
Now let's dance.

I have tried so many no heat curlin techniques from Pinterest and so far none of them have worked all that great. I love that you embraced it and went with it though! Haha. And Hudson's comment is hilarious!

Haha! That's so funny! I love Hudson's comment about your hair.

Personally, I think it's great! I love that you embraced the big "pouf" and rocked the 80's style! It's fabulous! If it was me, I probably would have left it curly/crinkled but pulled some of it back into like a half pony or something of the sort. But then again, I love my hair wavy/curly and it's awesome because it's naturally wavy so it holds curl like a champ! haha

I tried one of the posts where you braid your hair and then flat iron it and it shold have curls when you take the braids down. Mine looked horrible. I could do it better with a curling iron in half the time!

That's hilarious. Love that you embraced it. Maybe bigger pin curls? I realized with flat iron curling that I need to do bigger sections to make it wavier and less goldilocks. Also makes it a lot quicker!

If you want bigger curls, maybe you should make bigger buns.... Not that what you did wasn't cute, but It wasn't what you expected.

Haha this made me laugh out loud :) I guess you just have to rock it like they did in the 80s!

You and Hudson always make me smile!

"Mama, it's too bright!"

Bwahahahahaha!

I LOVE playing with my hair and finding ways to make it look different. Right now I have the itch to cut a TON of it off to make a sleek long bob... but then I wouldn't have my long waves... Choices choices!

I think your hair looked fun. Definitely not an every day thing, but tons of fun!

Oh and I just found you on pinterest! =)

Haha, Hudson's comment is the best. Sometimes those Pinterest-found tutorials don't work for me either! I think I remember my mom curling my hair when I was younger with some kind of panty hoes technique. Somehow they were wrapped up in my hair and then I slept on them overnight. It sounds kind of similar to what you did, but I can't remember if it ever worked! A successful no heat tutorial would do me a ton of good!

Hahaaa... "bright!" Oh your lil Hudson is awesome, & could he be any cuter! You could be bald & still be flippn'gorgeous. You so rocked the whole Flash Dance look mama! OMGoodness, your blog just makes me hapopy! Xo

That is some flashy hair - maybe that is what Hudson was referring too! I wish I had the patience to do my hair when it is longer, but the longer my hair gets the more time it spends in a pony tail so I keep it shorter. You hair really looks great any way that you do it!!

Haha, it's too bright! That is adorable.

HA- ITS TOO BRIGHT- that is awesome. Personally, I love it... I cannot get my hair to curl for the life of me so the more the better!

Lol I love this! That is so funny! I saw those pictures on Instagram! Funny thing is I pin tons of hairstyles on Pinterest & have only tried one- a fish tail braid! I guess I am super lazy haha. And dang you are ALWAYS looking sooo good girl!

Ah ha that's fantastic!! Did you go out and rock the big hair?! ;-) I hate when a new hair-doo fails.. And I hate it worse when on the tutorial the person's hair turns out perfect! What in the world?!!

I love that Hudson said 'tooo bright'! I can just picture it =) McKennon screws up his face and says that.. when it's bright outside. Love our little boys!

Glad you missed me.. makes me feel loved <3

haha, even when its a bit unruly you look pretty cute! I like the Hudson captions hahaha

You're totally right. Those buns were no bueno for me. But the one with the headband and you loop your hair around it worked for me.

All hail the 80's! And your adorable little man ;)

Amanda said...

Hahahaha! You crack me up. I don't get how that was supposed to create big loose curls by putting your hair in tiny buns... I'd be curious to see if it worked with my hair, I doubt it.

Hannah {Culture Connoisseur} said...

Haha. I had a hair experiment go wrong like that once...only my hair was much shorter...chin length...so when I took the curlers out my head looked like a microphone buffer.

I like this look...just keep it reserved for halloween or something. :)

OH hayyyyy 80s hair!!! I love it.

Courtney B said...

Pretty mama! Even with crazy hair you look AMAZING! :) That is so weird that the curls didn't turn out. But you rocked the hair do! Teach me your tricks. Because my hair would've been slicked back into a bun or washed out. I think I need more confidence?

Eva Marie said...

bahahahaa dont you love these little things that never seem to work.. ugh hahah

My hair looks like that after every shampoo (yes my hair would have died to be a teenager in the 80's) .. luckily with age I have figured out how to "mange" it :)
