If you like pina coladas & getting caught in the rain.

------------------
We drove through bumper to bumper holiday traffic from the minute we hit the interstate.
{big SUVs loaded down with coolers and beach towels and lots of kids}

We listened to Hudson talk about "da beeeeeeech!" between episodes of Max and Ruby that played repeatedly on the dvd player.
{the little guy was excited}

I hit a concrete post with the front bumper of my Jeep at a BP in a tiny town called Bay Minette.
{CRUNCH! paired with the dirty looks coming from the lady in the Buick parked next to me, and the terrible sound it made as I bumped it, I decided it would be best to just not look. I waited until Will emerged from the gas station with cokes and candy bars, and made him view the damage. It wasn't as bad as it sounded. Whew.}

We saw three fender benders and 5 blowouts.
{it was craziness, people}

As I was driving down the Gulf Shores Parkway, we had to pull to the side of the road to avoid driving through a severe thunderstorm that produced rain so thick I couldn't see the car in front of me and wind that blew so hard the tall pines around us looked like they would snap like twigs.
{my iphone said we were in the midst of 60 mph winds and quarter size hail}
-------------------------

It took us about 3 hours longer than usual, but we finally arrived in beautiful Orange Beach, Alabama. We enjoyed our traditional early dinner beachside at Sea 'n Suds (Oysters on the half shell! Yum Yum!), and watched as Hudson looked over the deck in amazement at the shimmering sand, bouncing beach balls, and buzzing airplanes.

It may have been a rough ride, but in the words of Clark W. Griswold: "We made it, d%*# it, we made it."

After unpacking we ran out to the beach, to enjoy the last few moments of daylight as the sun set deep into the horizon line. Seeing the huge smile that spread across Hudson's face, as he dipped his tiny feet into the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico....that very moment made all the hassle worth it.

This vacation is going to be good.

It sounds perfect-- aside from the nightmare of a drive, of course!

I'm so glad you guys are having fun! Hudson is adorable in the picture where he looks like he's screaming at the sand! Haha!

Oh, and as always, I LOVE YOUR OUTFIT! Your makeup is flawless and you look so beach-chic!

Well this was the worst part of the trip but you know it was even fun. Hudson was so excited about the beach. I am also a little happy about you bumping that post at the gas station. It gave me some great material to pick on you about. Great pictures and I am so glad you like oysters on the half shell. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm Look forward to seeing the rest of our trip.

I had fun and LOVE YOU!!!

We were in Gulf Shores this past weekend and I wondered if Sea N Suds were any good, we stayed like right next to it in the Lighthouse Condo's. I wish you guys had been there at the same time so we could have met! We went to Lulu's, our favorite and braved The Hangout - yikes! And we used to have friends that lived in Bay Minnette! It took us 10 hours to get there so you know we love it! I haven't had a chance to post pictures yet.....have fun!

hahaha, oh road trips with toddlers. Good times. You look lovely as always and it looks like you had fun. I bet you can quote Max and Ruby now hahaha.

You know what I love most about you? First of all- you are probably the only person I know who can serioulsy ROCK a turban (gorgeousness!) but I also love that you two have a toddler yet always embark on the most fantastic adventures! Sometimes Cooper and I worry that when we start having kids the adventures will end because of the crying, diapers etc... but you are proof that they dont have to!

GIRL! We are forever going to be almost running into each other, haha! We were at Orange Beach this weekend (Sunday & Monday) too! And we almost ate at Sea n Suds, but ended up at The Shrimp Basket and The Hang Out instead. How random. I love it, though. Glad you guys are having a great time! :)

Your husband's comment is so cute. What a beautiful trip to the beach despite all it took to get there (road trips are so much work, even without storms!!), and I love that Hudson loved the water!

I love how Hudson places his feat while you guys drive. haha. cute. He's adorable. AHH I can't take Max and Ruby. My boys watch that sometimes at my parents' house (since we have no T.V. channels). I just get annoyed by Ruby. haha. Your little guy definitely always looks so very happy!!!

I'm about to make a couple mugs of hot cocoa for my sweetheart and i :) ...BUT pretending to enjoy pina coladas while looking back at this epic beach trip of yours made me all sorts of happy. Pink skies, gorgeous sand, and a sweet family...perfection :)
