Courtin' the Blues.

{LISTEN: St. Louis Blues by W.C. Handy}

Every year, this week in July holds the record as the BEST week of the summer. It's the Handy Festival....7 days and nights of live music at hundreds of venues around town, celebrating our hometown celebrity, W.C. Handy, the father of the blues.

During the festival, you can wake up and enjoy free blues in the park, meet friends for lunch and hear the sounds of cool jazz, stroll through the streets and run into a million people you know, and dance the night away downtown.

Music + Food + Friends + Summertime
(& did I mention we got free Icees?)

Doesn't that sound fun?

Love that photo of the three of you in the mirror and the last one of all three of you, as well. So sweet. Festivals are the best!

That sounds SO fun.

I love that Hudson gets to ride around in a red wagon rather than a stroller. :) (Also digging your nail polish.)

That sounds like an awesome way to spend a week in the summer! I want a week-long festival like that!

Anyway, when I read your comment about the sunflowers I both laughed and pouted. I'm sorry the field was all dead and I hope you can find some live ones this year to see! They're so beautiful! We had some of our engagement photos taken in a sunflower field and they were our main flower/theme for our wedding!

how great is Hudson's sly under the eyelid glance? I'm cracking up. This festival looks like fun! Does it ever rain where you live? It looks like endless summer :)

This was one fun Kick off day for the W.C. Handy fest. Free drinks and food at the first stop and then free ices at the parade and then free music in the park. What this town is going crazy. This is going to be a great week. That picture of our little guy cutting his eyes at you was great. Can't wait for our bucket of chicken outing down by the river.

LOVE YOU!!!

Loving his cute cute face in the first pic :) The festival come around the same time as our favorite jazz festival (but sadly had to miss it this year).

There is something about lounging, dancing, drinking, eating, listening to jazz in the park that just feels like SUMMER
