The Civil Wars

{LISTEN: 20 Years by The Civil Wars}

We saw The Civil Wars last night. It was a sold-out show at our local Shoals Theatre. And it was perfection.

Joy Williams & John Paul White have the most hauntingly wonderful harmonies, and each song they sang was rich with love and feeling. This was a hometown set for John Paul, and the playful banter between he and Joy was funny and comforting...as though all 700 of us were sitting in a living room, listening to a couple of friends play.

These two are definitely the best of what's next.

p.s. Remember that time I met John Paul downtown?

Well since my first awesome comment did not go through I will try again.

Last night was awesome. I enjoyed our dinner with Ben and his date. Oh wait, he was solo. :P Anyway the food and drinks were great. The concert was even better. I had been wanting to go see them for quite some time. I had gotten us tickets once before but someone got sick. Oh well, we made it and I had a blast.

HAPPY HANDY WEEK!

LOVE YOU!!!

I think you've just introduced me to a new fave! I love folk music.. it always feel so nostalgic and familiar.

I also love your photo of them.. (well all of them really) but specifically the one that looks like they're wafting into the air like smoke. It seems to emulate their sound.

You're looking gorgeous in your fabulous indie-inspired outfit :) And I absolutely love how John Paul White where's a suit with a bow tie. very classy. And you definitely know good entertainers when you're in a venue FULL of people, yet it feels so intimate :) And their "hauntingly wonderful harmony"...perfect description :)

I've never heard of the band before but listened to the song you posted and it's so beautiful! Will definitely have to check them out. Glad you had a good time, there's nothing worse than going to a concert and not feeling like you had an experience. Don't think that was the case with you!
