Poison & Wine

{Listen: Poison & Wine by The Civil Wars}

Guess who ran into a celebrity today, right here on Court Street in Florence, Alabama? ME! ME! ME!

As my friend Pamela and I pushed our sweet babies in the hot, summer sun, we spotted the amazingly talented John Paul White....Shoals native and one half of the duo The Civil Wars.

Please tell me you've heard of them? If not, you are missing out on something really special. The Civil Wars have been heavily praised by everyone from The LA Times to the New York Post. Paste Magazine has named them "The Best of What's Next." They just finished touring with the magnificent Adele. And I even wrote about them here. Yep, The Civil Wars are kind of a big deal.

Here's what went down today on my celebrity encounter:

Ashley: "Heeeeey! Aren't you John Paul?"
JPW: Why, yes I am.
Ashley: "Oh! I'm a huge fan. I'm going to see your concert in July. Can we take a picture together?"
JPW: Sure we can.

"I'm a huge fan"?!? More like, I'm a huge dork!

--So, it was definitely my "I carried a watermelon!?!" moment. Dirty Dancing fans, holla! ;) --

What an awesome day. I'll definitely hold on to these photos....I have no doubt that John Paul White and The Civil Wars will just continue to get bigger & bigger!

haha! how awesome! and it's also pretty great that your photo with a celeb looks like a photo with a friend! i think most people are too frantic to act normal and just pose for a photo hehe

i saw susan lucci this morning at a fair in town.. if i watched "days of our lives" i'd probably freak out and totally not be able to speak to her. acutally.. i'm way to shy to have said anything anyway- but it was kinda cool. she's the town celebrity.

A Lost Feather said...

oh shooot.. or is she in "all my children?" i don't know the soaps hehe

Erica said...

The CIVIL WARS?!?!?!? Your cool factor has just jumped to infinity in my book (albeit it was already pretty high). :D

My blogger friend Ashley met one of their singers!" we searched through to find this post, and she about fell off her chair!! heehee :) She's loved them for a while like you, and was sad to be out of town last time they were here...next time right? :) Anyway, those photos of you two rock :) Happy weekend!! <3
