Where the Skies are so Blue.

We spent the day on my family farm, making memories by the dozens. A refuge from the everyday grind of the city, we approached the flowing pastures, a peaceful dreamscape on the horizon. Fresh air, green grass, and shallow creeks....it's truly beautiful, untouched and pure. Nature at it's best.

Not only a perfectly lovely place to pass the time, the farm provides habitat for many species...cattle and deer, dogs and birds, and countless varieties of insects, reptiles, and plants. For as long as I can remember, my favorite thing to do at the farm was visit the many animals. I think Hudson may be following in my footsteps...upon arrival he talked about the "cows" and the "doggies", and he giggled as one of the friendly hounds came up for a welcome lick.

Hudson fit right in, sitting up like a big boy in the cab of the big truck, as we bounced over the grassy fields. He pointed at the trees, and smiled at the cows. And with the sun shining brightly, the temperature rose to 60 degrees, providing a perfect climate for running and tromping in the open air.

After a ride around the pasture, and a walk through the woods, we found ourselves at the old barn. As night fell, I came across a special treasure....one that will surely bring me good luck: a horseshoe that belonged to my childhood horse, Cinnamon. We brought it back home with us....a little reminder of the wonderful memories that are made at the farm.

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful here in Bama - we were in Birmingham but the weather was gorgeous. I hear it's supposed to be just as nice today and I'm very much looking forward to it!

Ashley I'm glad you had fun on the farm. Wish we lived closer so we could enjoy it more but 70-80 miles is not too bad. You loved Cinnamon, glad you found the horseshoe. I hope little Hudson gets to spend a lot of time there exploring. If Granny and Pa are looking down that makes them happy to see another generation at the farm.
