Tutorial: Fabulous Feather Earrings

So you want to run freely across the meadow with some fabulous feather earrings flying gracefully beside you? Awesome.
I can show you how to make your own....and it's so super easy, it can be done in less than five minutes!

(what you'll need: feathers, scissors, needle nosed pliers, Mod Podge, string, 2 jewelry crimps, and 2 arched earring wires.)

-Find some pretty feathers in varying sizes and colors.

-arrange the feathers, then wrap and tie a string around the top of the bunch. Cut off what's left of the feather stems above the string, so that you have a clean cut. Put a dab of Mod-Podge on the top of the bundle of feathers.

-gather your open crimp end (I used a 9mm sized crimp) and your arched earring wire. (I used natural brass color for both.)

-put the open back of the crimp towards the backside of your feather bundle.

-use your needle nosed pliers to squeeze the crimp shut.

-insert the arched earring wire through the circle loop on the crimp.

-admire the beauty of what you have created!

-Feather earrings aren't really your thing? Give some to your friend!!

Please let me know if you make some fabulous feather earrings...I would love to see them!

Happy Weekend!

Oh. My. Darling.
Adorable perhaps? Yes.
Hate to admit, I'm too afraid to get my ears poked so I wouldn't be able to wear these.
Unless you can make them in clip ons! I am the queen of those.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I have very very small ear lobes and had earrings rip through my ears in the past (have a couple scars but pierced holes on my own next to them after that happened) so if I do ever wear earrings these days, they are really small, but otherwise I'd love to wear feathers on my ears if they wouldn't rip my ears! haha.

oh no, you think I look like SJP :(
aww Blaze sounds so sweet.
My dog was a Shetland Sheepdog. I have another one right now that's nearly 9 years old (had both at the same time but my one dog died in '03 that is in that photo on my blog). I love collies too though. My uncle has owned only Collies and I always loved them since I was a child.

I love feather earrings! And these are really beautiful, and so very sweet of you to share it with your friends.

I remember buying my very first feather earrings, and then I lost them. That was my first and last pair, really. Couldn't find one that was as beautiful as that. Maybe I could try making my own this time around. Hehe.

Thanks for sharing! xx

So pretty! I've been looking for a pair of looong ones, it didn't even occur to me to make my own. :)

I'm going to try to say this in the least creepy way possible but your eye color is gorgeous!

How fantastic! I've been on a little DIY kick ever since I made that chain and braid bracelet a couple of weeks ago. I'd love to try something like this. I've been seeing feather hair extensions everywhere, but I'm not ready for that sort of commitment. Maybe this is the next best feathered thing!
