On Sunday we drove down to the river to watch for bald eagles that frequent the area during the winter months. It was so nice to be outside under beautiful blue skies, surrounded by nothing but calm, reflective water and smooth river rocks. Although we were only a few minutes away from home, I couldn't help but feel like we had transported to a tiny island coast somewhere, far away from people....just the three of us, enjoying our happy little moments in nature's beautiful sanctuary.
We didn't see any eagles, but we had fun anyway, exploring the river bank and having goofy impromptu sing-a-longs in the car. The sun on our shoulders felt wonderful, and by the time we decided to head home, the pretty moon was peeking out in the sky from behind the tall pines, high above us, bidding us farewell and bringing an end to a wonderful day of adventure.
