How to Snow Sled-awkward style- & other snow day activities.

{LISTEN: Horchata by Vampire Weekend}

Snow has fallen and nothing goes better with a fresh snowfall than sledding, and doing it awkwardly, too. We broke out the old dog food bag (yep, you read that right. Most of us don't keep snow sleds on hand in Alabama.) and went for a search for the perfect hill.   Turns out the slick bag worked wonders on the snowy embankment, and we flew down like amateur recreational sled speed champions....or at least I did.

{First, find a hill. Then climb up, ever so clumsily, balancing yourself on all fours while also transporting your makeshift sled.}

{Give a wave to signify that you have safely reached the summit, have gotten into sledding position, and are ready to disembark.}

{Go! And be sure to make this uber-awkward face as you slide down the hill}

{Reach the bottom and realize that you are soaking wet, since you forgot to pick your legs up while sliding.}

{If the above method was too complicated, try Will's approach: Start by claiming your power & masculinity by declaring yourself king of the mountain. Mutter a few Titanic quotes, a la "I'm the king of the world!" Strike a pose. Then slip completely off the sledding device and roll all the way down.}

 {If your sledding maneuvers turn out anything like ours, your spectators will be extremely bored by the time you've gone down the hill a couple of times.}

{Head back home to take a rest.}

After our sledding adventure, Hudson and I warmed up inside, while Will was busy at work creating a snow family masterpiece in our yard.

So cute! Looks like you're having so much fun. I hope we get more snow this year. Of course I ordered some cute snow boots that won't be here til Thursday, but we're scheduled to get more snow tomorrow... Enjoy that snow while it lasts down there! =)

How adorable! Love the snow family, I really like the little flower in "your hair"!!! That takes a lot of skill and patience. Our snow here in NC was too powdery to make a snow man or even a good snowball...but that's ok, I'm not big on either one!

What a fun post. I can't believe you used a dog food bag. Just think what you could do with a real sled!!! I think Will had the right idea just roll down the hill. Ashley, I love the expression on your face coming down. Someone got very creative with the Snow family. As usual, good pictures. Hudson looks so sweet.

Well I do have to give you props for foing down the hill the best, but I have to say I went down it the fastest. Our Snow family was great and seemed to be standing strong still this morning.

I think Hudson had fun in his wagon ride to watch mom tumble up the hill and dad tumble down the hill.

LOVE YOU
