Modern Housewife

Sometimes I feel like a domestic goddess. I like to plan weekly menus for our meals, I love creating new dishes, and I enjoy making our house lovely.

Other times I feel like a domestic dunce. I hate doing laundry, I despise ironing, and I am not a great baker.

Today I am a little bit of both. I've been baking, creating Christmas goodies that will hopefully turn out yummy, and not yucky. I've been doing laundry, folding it, and putting it away. I've even been ironing. Today, I've done all of the domesticated things that I detest. And on top of all that, I've been cuddling and caring for my sick* (but quickly recovering) little boy!

When I woke up this morning I knew that I would have quite a few chores ahead of me, so I pulled on something comfy and threw on some pearls as a finishing touch....like every good little Southern housewife. Then I dove headfirst into my busy day.

But, I've got a lot to show for it...clean clothes, sweet treats, and a fresh baked cinnamon smell wafting through the house. And best of all, a happy little family with mouthfuls of cookies.

Are you a domestic goddess, or a domestic dunce?

*Thank you all for your kind comments and well wishes for Hudson! He is definitely on the mend, and feeling much better!!

Hmmm, I don't want to label myself a Domestic Goddess, maybe an intern? I definitely like it- except for laudnry. HATE laundry. I think the worst part is putting it away?

I love your necklace!

Kisses to baby Hudson...hope he's up and playing soon. :)

Oh, poor Hudson! I hope he is feeling better soon!

I hate those days that I wake up and know I have a lot to do around the house, but it's such a wonderful feeling completing them all and then just sitting back and enjoying a clean and pretty home!

Love your pearl and flower necklace!

Well, aren't you the cutest little housewife. Love the necklace. Little Hudson still looks like he doesn't feel great but he looks cute in his jammies.

I'm a little of both too. I can bake and i don't mind laundry... but i hate dishes and cleaning and I'm an good but not great cook. I would have never survived in the 50s as a legitimate house wife.

oh my goodness!! Love it :)
I'm BOTH! Right now I live with my parents until I finish school and because they are here and do A LOT I just don't have to do too much around the house, but when I get my own place I think I will love doing that stuff. I'm so ready to be a housewife :)

I love your "comfy" outfit...totally styling in the kitchen!!
I'm sooo not domestic...I HATE cleaning...like beyond hate...my house is a disaster (we also happen to be renovating)...I'm not creative with cooking...don't mind baking...but one thing I can do is sew...but that's not such a domestic thing any more

what a cute outfit for doing house chores in! I can barely convince myself to get out of pajamas if I know I only have a day of chores ahead of me.

i'm so happy to hear Hudson's doing better too! :)

Oh Ashley if someone can make house chores look glamorous, it's you! I hope one day I get to make Christmas goodies and visit Santa with my little one just as you do, you inspire me so although the details of our day to day is so different :)

What lip color are you wearing in these pictures? It's so pretty!

And I have zero domestic abilities, so I am a bit jealous that you at least possess SOME. :)

I'm a bit of a failure on the domestic front... I'm trying hard to improve. I actually like doing laundry, but I hate dishes and I have a hard time getting stuff done when the baby's awake (since he can be so demanding!).

I love to try and be a domestic goddess but I, too, HATE doing laundry. It is such a chore (I chalk it up to the fact that the laundry is in the basement).

okay, that demin-like shirt & that floral skirt are perfection!! and you were right, the necklace (which is LoVeLy) added the perfect touch! Just the other day I put on a skirt & heels to do the dishes...made me feel better. And the husband thought it was cute :)

What did you bake??

oh my gosh, Ashley, you're SOOO pretty. Jealous!

I'm totally a domestic dunce. I don't think my husband knew what he was getting into before he married me. Poor him! :)

I love how you put a pretty necklace on to do chores! I'm a domestic goddess inside, but rarely get to show it on the outside! ;-)
