On Friday, you turned seven months old! Time is flying, and you are growing faster than I ever would have imagined. It seems as though you have changed so much since I wrote your 6 month letter. You are really on the move! No longer content to sit or lay still, you must be moving almost constantly. If you are in my lap, you are twisting all around, contorting your little body in unanticipated ways. If you are lying on your blanket or playing in your crib, you are rolling from back to front and back again, from one side to the other. You get around pretty fast, so there's no leaving you alone, not even for a second! You love to sit up all by yourself, and you have gotten very good at maintaining your balance. You like to sit up and play with your toys...especially your little piano. After a while of sitting, you get a bit bored, and thrust your body forward, so that you can play on your tummy and roll around.
You have reached an exciting new milestone, just in the last week....scooting! It's not yet a crawl, but you're trying very hard. It's adorable when you pop your little booty in the air, push up on your arms, and shove off with your chubby legs. You are really getting "scooting" down, but there's just one tiny hitch...you're moving in reverse! You can definitely get around on the floor, but you're not moving forward, and I think it's upsetting you. You get especially mad when you are trying to scoot towards your toys, but end up moving further away from them. Poor little guy! I know you'll get the hang of it soon.
You love for Mommy to sing and clap. Your most favorite song that I sing to you is the ABC's. As soon as you hear "A, B..." the biggest, sweetest smile covers your face! Sometimes you get so excited during the ABC's you rock back and forth. I think that you're trying to dance, and it is almost too cute for words. You are amazed when people clap. I can just see your little perplexed face, examining clapping hands, trying to figure out exactly how that works. You also like to play patty-cake, and "trot little horsey", and sometimes peek-a-boo makes you laugh.
Daddy is the best bouncer in the world! You love when he bounces you while he stands up. You try so hard to keep your little eyes open, but usually you just give in and fall asleep with your tiny mouth wide open! Whenever you are upset, Daddy's bouncing calms you down and cheers you up. You're mostly just a big fan of bouncing!! You still love to spend time in your activity bouncer. You love to bounce while you watch Yo Gabba Gabba.
Eating solid foods has gone very well so far. Your favorites are squash, green peas, and green beans. You definitely enjoy the veggies more than the fruits. You are eating two meals a day! Your sleeping habits are still wonderful. You sleep from 10 p.m. until about 9:30 a.m., with one feeding at 7:00 a.m., most every day. You are placed in your cradle on your back every night, but each morning when you wake I always find you on your tummy. I still haven't moved you into your nursery....maybe I can talk Daddy into letting you stay in your cradle until you are able to pull yourself in to a sitting position on your own. I'll miss you so much if you're a room away!
You definitely have some very grabby hands. You will grab anything and everything that is within your reach, and then you will promptly move it directly to your mouth. So Mommy and Daddy are watching you very closely at all times to make sure you don't seize something you shouldn't. You are very quick to acquire the television remote and my cell phone. You also think that every time I have a bottled water, you should have it, and if I'm not careful you'll have it pulled to your little mouth before I can blink! I have a feeling I'm going to have my hands increasingly full as you grow!
You love when people talk to you on the speakerphone. You are very good at recognizing your name, and you become interested whenever you hear it in conversation. About the only way you will stay content while Mommy talks on the phone is if she let's you listen in. So most phone calls are on speakerphone, and you get so excited when someone speaks directly to you....BIG smiles!
One little thing you are doing now is paying close attention to details. You love to look at Mommy's birthstone ring when she wears it. You will sit for long periods of time just twisting it around and inspecting it. Your personality is so big for such a little person! You still do a lot of chattering, and have just recently started to make mama and dada sounds! In addition to jabbering, you also like to grunt and squawk. You are very happy much of the time, and you love to laugh! To put it simply, you are just a joy. You make Mommy, Daddy, and all your grandparents soo happy. You are, undoubtedly, the very best part of our lives. We love you, sweet boy. We love you very, very much. Happy seven months! Can’t wait to see what the next one holds!
