Rasberries and Roly-Poly

One of Hudson's favorite things to do these days is this:

He really gets into blowing rasberries. It's funny because he will do it one day, just out of the blue...and then he continues to do it ALL day long. He definitely knows that it gets him lots of attention. Then, he won't really do it again for a few days. I think that he sometimes forgets that he knows how to do it. And when he remembers, he gets really into it. He is a funny little guy!

Here is a video of Hudson rolling over from back to front, which he did for the first time on January 6th. I'm not sure why he got upset after he rolled over....he usually doesn't do that.

Overheard in our House

Last night, as we watched the first American Idol of this season:

Will: "That Beckham girl sick or something?"
Ha Ha. He then proceeded to express his astonishment at the fact that her tiny neck could hold up her head. I think she did a good job as a guest judge, but she does look a bit too thin.

Hudson enjoyed watching Idol with us. He likes anything that involves music.

5 Months

Time flies when you're having fun. Hudson turns 5 months old today, and I can hardly believe it! What a sweet little boy he is. He has changed so much since August! He does a lot these days that make us laugh; For example, when I hold him, he likes to turn his head completely upside down and look around! This may not sound very entertaining, but I promise you it is! He'll just hang his head back and look around, or watch tv, or suck on his hands. And when doing this, he has no intentions of sitting upright. Most of the time he gets upset when we try to lift his head from an upside down position. Will and I joke about Hudson being part vampire bat! Hmmmm....I may or may not have read three volumes of Twilight while I was expecting him.....I'll never tell. ;)

For Christmas, Santa brought Hudson a Baby Einstein exersaucer/bouncy. He hasn't been to fond of it. At first when we placed him in it, he would just hang there. No bouncing. Just looking at us with sad eyes....like, "What are you doing to me?". Slowly, he began to show interest in the toys attached. Mostly the little frog attached to a mirror. And finally, today he began to bounce! I was doing some things around the house, and had put Hudson in his bouncy. After about 10 minutes of running around the house, it ocurred to me that he wasn't crying to get out, like he usually is after only a few moments. I peeked in at him, and there he was, bouncing like crazy! It was so cute! I wish I had my camera handy when I spotted him, but I didn't, and then he spotted me, and the crying began. You see, Hudson's a pretty clever fellow; he is perfectly fine entertaining himself for a small period of time in his swing, or his playmat, or bouncy, but that is ONLY until he sees you nearby. I suppose he thinks that if I'm in his sights I should be holding him. Nonstop. While this can get tricky around dinner time, or while doing light housework, I do not mind holding him one bit. I know that all too soon he will no longer want me to snuggle with him so much. And, wow, does that make me sad. Here is a video of Hudson in his bouncy:

Hudson does a lot of jibber jabbing. And he always looks at us, like" Don't you understand what I'm saying?". We just respond, and hope that we are answering the questions he's asking. He is no longer content just sitting in our laps. No sir, he likes to stand up (supported of course). I really do believe this fellow is strong. He tried to hold up his little head at one month old. He's on the fast track to something wonderful. I love watching him grow and learn...I just wish I could slow down the clock! He'll be running through the house before we know it.

In holy cow-I'm getting old news, my 28th birthday was on the 5th. Will & my Mom&Dad sent me tons of balloons! I've always loved balloons, and now it is obvious that Hudson does too! He discovered them floating around, and stared at them for a solid five minutes. He was so excited when I held him up to them, and let him touch them. Guess I know what we'll have at his 1st Birthday party!

In some not so pleasant news, Hudson is teething. And it's not fun at all. Bless his heart, he just cries because his little gums hurt. Worst part is that there's nothing we can do,but comfort him. Poor little guy! I hope this doesn't last too long!

And, now for some more unfortunate news. If I could get paid for losing my hair, I could consider myself gainfully employed. I knew it was bound to happen (your normal hairloss slows during pregnancy and resumes with a vengeance after you give birth), but this is ridiculous. It’s everywhere and it's gross. It can stop any day now. I’d really rather not end up resembling crazy Britney anytime soon.

Watching Hudson use his little hands is one of my favorite things these days. I just love how his movements are slow and deliberate, yet effective. He works so hard at focusing on his toy, or his bib, or even the tv remote, and slowly moving his hands, and then grasping the object his eyes have targeted. When he is holding onto something on his own, he gets excited! Soon the smiles ensue, and if you're lucky you may even hear a little squeal of joy! Right now some of his favorite toys are his Sophie Giraffe, and his Pigeon.

Snow & Pigskin

Yesterday was a very exciting day for little Hudson! A couple of days ago, the local news channels started predicting snow for North Alabama. As you probably already know, Alabama doesn't see much snow, so the slightest chance in the forecast brings excitement. It also brings out the crazies...1/2 inch of snow in the weather report means droves of people at the local grocery store. Will had to go pick up a few things, and not only were the grocery shelves bare of milk & eggs, there was absolutely no ground beef to be found! That seemed odd to me. I guess people were planning to sit at home, eat hamburgers, and watch the flakes fall. But, I digress. When we woke up on the morning of January 7th, the snow was falling. Albeit very very small snowflakes, it still counts. It continued to snow for most of the day, so when Will came home for lunch, we put on our boots, bundled up our little bundle of love, and trudged outside to proudly show off the tiny flakes of snow to the little man. It was below freezing so we had to be quick. Hudson didn't even seem to notice the cold or the snow. Oh well! We got some cute pics in the process! Not only was this Hudson's first snow day, it was also the night of the BCS Championship game. After an undefeated season, Alabama took on the Texas Longhorns. Hudson was born just before the football season started, and he has yet to see Alabama lose a game! We think that he is a good luck charm for the Crimson Tide!! Needless to say, his good luck carried the Tide through the Championship Game, and they came out victorious in the end! Hudson has always been so alert; he always seems to know what he's watching on television. He shows interest in football, probably because he and Will have had a Saturday morning routine of watching games since he was born. Here are a few pictures of Hudson supporting the Crimson Tide over the past few months.
I wonder if Hudson will miss this Saturday tradition now that football season is over?

All About

Welcome to my blog! I suppose I should begin by telling you a bit about my family. I'm Ashley, and I have been married for almost five fabulous years to my handsome husband, Will.

In August of 2009, we welcomed our bouncing little bundle of love, Hudson Gregory. He has amazed us from the very moment we laid eyes on him. He never ceases to impress us with his observant expressions and easygoing nature. Hudson is the happiest baby. He loves to cuddle with his mommy & play with his dad. Luckily for us, the little guy has been sleeping through the night since he was 3 months old. He definitely lives up to the charachteristics of his zodiac sign; as a Leo he always strives to be the center of attention....and we don't mind that one bit!

We are an amazing little family. We are learning as we go, and we never stop questioning this fantastic adventure. I welcome you to follow us on our journey as new parents, loving and laughing our way through the ever changing chapters of our life as a family of three.
