If you have common skin concerns like acne, redness, or hyperpigmentation, then a good foundation will allow you to have the skin you desire. Since it can be overwhelming to choose your own foundation, use the following 10 celebrity foundations as a guide.

1 – Chanel

If you want Jennifer Aniston’s glowing skin, then try Chanel’s Double Perfection Lumiere Long-Wear Flawless Sunscreen Powder Makeup. Jennifer wears shade 32 Beige Rose. The foundation retails for $52.50, and it is great for natural looking coverage.


Do you want your skin to look airbrushed?  Try the foundation Dianna Agron swears by for her big red carpet appearances. Temptu Pro’s Foundation is a makeup artist favorite, and it is also ideal for creating flawless skin. Dianna wears shade sand.

For a drugstore foundation option, try L’Oreal Paris True Match Super Blendable Makeup. Jennifer Lopez wears this foundation in Sun Beige. It’s $11, and it can help you mimic Jennifer’s healthy glow.

4 – Almay 

Another celebrity that relies on drugstore foundation is Kate Hudson. She uses Almay’s Shade Skintone Matching Makeup. Kate’s foundation color is light/medium.

5 – Bobbi Brown

Beauty sensation Kate Upton relies on Bobbi Brown’s foundation stick to create her flawless skin. This popular product is great for touchups as well. Upton’s shade is warm beige.

6 – Cover Girl

Katy Perry’s skin is constantly flawless on the red carpet and at other events. Her go to foundation is CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation. Katy uses the creamy natural shade to perfect her skin.

7 – Revlon

For Halle Berry’s beautiful skin, try using Revlon ColorStay Whipped Crème Makeup. This is a fuller coverage foundation that many women prefer. If you have similar color to Halle’s skin, try shade caramel.

8 – Dior

Natalie Portman is synonymous with beauty, and she relies on Diorskin Nude Foundation to create flawless skin. Natalie’s color is light beige.

9 – Tarte

For a longwearing, full coverage, matte foundation, try Tarte’s Amazonian Clay. Chrissy Teigien is a huge fan, and she wears shade tan-honey. Although it’s a little pricier than drugstore options, many people love the natural ingredients.

10 – Elizabeth Arden

Break a Sweat in Style

Summer is just around the corner! So many of us are trying to get fit for all the upcoming warm weather activities! From hiking in the hills to a run in the neighborhood, now is the perfect time to take advantage of mild temperatures and get into shape!

In the past, I have been the one to hit the gym in baggy t-shirts and sweat pants. There wasn't really a rhyme or reason to my workout attire choices....maybe I wore those things because I didn't really feel comfortable working out around people that are clearly in better shape than me. Perhaps I wore those clothes because it was just easy to do? You obviously don't have to put much thought into big tees and comfy pants.

After years of exercising, I never enjoyed it. I used to go to the gym to use the treadmill and take cardio classes. I was bored, so I tried changing up my routine by doing fitness dvd's at home and walking outdoors. It never clicked for me. I just didn't feel good about myself, and therefore, didn't get inspired when working out. Then, one evening before a yoga class, I got myself some new workout apparel. I went to my class, and felt different! I instantly felt better about myself, by simply shedding the big, roomy sweats, and wearing something that made me look good and feel proud! 

There are so many stylish workout clothing options that can boost your self esteem when exercising. One of my favorite places to purchase cute fitness clothing is at Sweaty Betty. They have it all, from yoga clothes to tennis apparel and everything in between.

Spring Fashion Forecast

It's that time of the year again. The snow has melted and the sun is shining brightly. The temperatures are rising, and April showers have nurtured May's blooming flowers. Spring has arrived in all of it's wondrous glory. 

When this time of the year rolls around, I can't help but get excited....for many reasons. One thing I look forward to is freshening up my wardrobe! Spring is the perfect time to stash away the bulky Winter sweaters and wool coats, and bring out the bright, happy clothes that will transition you into the warmer months. 

When deciding what to wear, I like to take cues from the fashion runways. There are many ways to use high fashion as inspiration without spending lots of money. New York Fashion Week featured many wearable trends for spring. Here are a few of my favorites:

1) Pretty Pastels
Clothing can be found in a beautiful array of rainbow colors, and soft springtime shades are right on trend! You can choose the most flattering pastel for your skin tone and wear it in the silhouette that flatters your body shape. Whether you wear high waisted jeans in a lovely lilac, or a tunic top in an airy aqua shade, this is one Spring trend that is very easy to achieve.

2) Wide Leg Pants
Wide leg pants come in a variety of different styles, from denim jeans to trousers. Since they are easy to wear and very chic, billowy wild legs made a big showing on the spring runways. The wide leg trend can be worn by women of any shape and size, not just six-foot-tall supermodels. I'm not very tall, so I prefer my wide leg pants to to be a bit leaner on the flare, and high waisted. This time of year, slouchy knit palazzo pants are a favorite of mine. I found the cutest pair at rue21, in a perfect tribal chevron print. They have already become my spring style staple!

3) Boxy Tops
Boxy, shift blouses are almost like a dressy version of a t-shirt. They are simple to wear, but much more sophisticated. With a sleeve falling near the elbow, and a boxy silhouette, the look is both versatile and flattering for almost every shape! I especially love that these tops come in so many different varieties, from patterned prints to embellished solids.

4) Floral Prints
I know what you are thinking: Florals for spring? I admit that it's definitely not a groundbreaking revelation, but there is something to be said for this perennial trend. When warm weather hits, it's perfectly refreshing to shed the winter clothes, and throw on pretty, bright florals! I like to keep it light and airy by choosing a simple solid dress paired with a cute pair of floral printed leggings and some walkable wedges. Easy, breezy and so very doable.

Good Night Sleep Guide

When was the last time you got a good night's sleep?
Let's be honest....I can't really remember when I did.
As a mom, peaceful nights are few and far between, but there isn't much that I wouldn't give to enjoy a good night's sleep, and research shows that restful sleep is something that most moms not only want, but they also NEED more of!

Does anyone really get enough quality sleep these days? Kids stay up late fighting bed time, television shows keep you awake, work duties wipe you out, and being constantly connected to tech devices can leave you too wired to relax. What's a tired, cranky mom to do? 

Here are a few tips to guide you to a good night's sleep:

1. Learn from Goldilocks
At the end of a long, tiring day, there's nothing better than slipping into a cozy, comfortable bed. How's your bed? Is it too hard? Too soft? Choosing the correct bed for your needs and body type can offer extra hours of sleep. Do you have a mattress topper? A featherbed topper is something that I love to use, because it adds an extra layer of comfort and softness. 2. Dress your bed 
Simply choosing a seasonal comforter can make a big difference in your nightly comfort. 4. Banish the Electronics
It's much easier to drift off to sleep in an uninterrupted, quiet place. Turn off the television, power off the cell phone, and just relish in the peaceful sounds of night.

5. Prepare your body and mind for rest
There are many easy ways to get yourself ready for bed. Begin by eating your way to a good sleep. Make sure your family dinner is over at least two hours before bedtime, in order to give your food time to digest. Take a quiet bath if you can. I sometimes find that some light yoga or stretching can help my muscles relax before sleeping. Wear some soft and comfortable pajamas. As the weather gets warmer, I like to sleep in a roomy nightgown. A favorite gown of mine came from The White Company.
